Match Report | Week 4

Mutondo Stars 1–0 Kansanshi Dynamos
Kansanshi Dynamos endured a difficult afternoon in Kitwe, falling 1-0 to Mutondo Stars in a Week 4 clash.
The Mabanga Boys started brightly, enjoying good possession in the opening 20 minutes. Chances fell to Mwepu Kalonji and Julius Mwanza, but neither could find the target.

The breakthrough came in the 38th minute when Moses Mulenga fired in a powerful long-range strike to put the hosts ahead.

Despite a spirited push in the second half, Kansanshi struggled to break down a confident Mutondo side. Julius came close late in the game, forcing a corner in the 80th minute, but the opportunity went to waste.

Head Coach Mr. Zeddy Saileti expressed his disappointment after the match:

“It’s very disappointing because the way we started, we started very well in the first 20 minutes. But we seemed to underrate Mutondo, and they took advantage. They had one chance, they scored, and from that moment the game became tough because we didn’t play our own game.”

The coach also highlighted concerns over fitness following the international break:
“Some players had knocks and didn’t seem to be in the game. We need to sit with the medical team to ensure players are fit to play because some didn’t show the right character.”

Reflecting on the team’s winless run, he added:
“Of course it’s disappointing as a coach. Each coach wants to win, and today was a good chance to catch up with teams around us. We really needed this win.”

Looking ahead to the next fixture against Green Eagles, Saileti called for a strong response:

“We know we’ve disappointed our fans and sponsors. Now it’s up to us, the players and technical bench, to bounce back. If we win, we can redeem our confidence.”

The Mabanga Boys will now turn their focus to their upcoming home fixture against Green Eagles as they seek their first victory of the campaign.
