It was a challenging weekend for our Kansanshi sides, with mixed fortunes across the board.
SENIOR TEAM |KANSANSHI DYNAMOS FC
The Mabanga Boys were in action at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe, where they fell 1-0 to Mutondo Stars in Week 4 of the MTN Super League. Kansanshi started brightly, controlling possession in the opening stages and creating chances through Madinga, Mwepu and Julius, but lacked precision in front of goal.
Mutondo grew into the game and punished Kansanshi in the 38th minute when Moses Mulenga struck from long range to give the hosts the lead. From then, the Mabanga Boys were forced to chase the game. Julius came close in the 80th minute, forcing a corner, but it came to nothing as Mutondo held on for the win.
The game also saw two new players make their debut for Kansanshi Dynamos FC. Francisco Madinga started the match and played 64 minutes, impressing with his energy and link-up play. In the 64th minute, Willy Bengele Bokingo was introduced, bringing fresh attacking options for the Mabanga Boys.
Head Coach Zeddy Saileti, facing his former club, admitted disappointment after the game:
βWe started very well, but we seemed to underrate Mutondo. They had one chance, they scored, and from that moment the game became tough. We didnβt play our own game, and some players didnβt show the right character after the break.β
The result leaves the Mabanga Boys still chasing their first win of the season. All eyes now turn to next weekendβs home clash against Green Eagles at Solweziβs Independence Stadium, an opportunity to bounce back and restore confidence.
KANSANSHI DYNAMOS QUEENS
In the ZPL Womenβs National LeagueβNorth, the Queens fought hard to a 1-1 draw away to Chitapankwa Girls in Kasama. Mercy Bwembya opened the scoring in the 38th minute with a composed finish to give the visitors the lead. However, the hosts equalised from the penalty spot in the 53rd minute.
The encounter had plenty of drama, with Head Coach Mwape Kasuka shown a red card on the touchline. Despite the setback, the Queens showed resilience to return home with a point from a difficult away trip.
YOUNG KANSANSHI UNITED
Our developmental side, Young Kansanshi United, continued their steady progress in the FAZ Division One Provincial League (Zone A). Hosting Manyana United in Solwezi for their Week 4 fixture, the youngsters battled to a 0-0 draw. Though chances were limited, the team displayed discipline and defensive strength to keep a clean sheet and secure a valuable point at home.
Across all levels, the weekend was a reminder of both the challenges and the fighting spirit within the Kansanshi Football Family. With lessons learned, we move forward together into the next round of fixtures.
