MUTONDO STARS VS KANSANSHI DYNAMOS
Kansanshi Dynamos FC return to league action tomorrow as they head to Kitwe to face Mutondo Stars in their Week 4 fixture of the MTN Super League.
Coming from a home draw in their last outing before the international break, the Solwezi-based side is fighting hard to record their first win of the season, having registered two draws and one loss so far.
Head Coach Zeddy Saileti will be hoping for an improved performance from his team, noting the positives from their last match, which also saw the Mabanga Boys score their first goal of the season. It has not been the best start for Kansanshi Dynamos, who are still looking to settle into the MTN Super League after promotion.
Currently, only two points separate the sides: Kansanshi sit 14th on the table, while Mutondo are bottom with zero points after three games.
KDFC Media spoke to Coach Saileti ahead of the clash against his former club, Mutondo Stars:
Coach Zeddy Saileti – Pre-Match Quotes
On preparations during the international break:
“I think we’ve done our preparation, we are ready for the game. And it was good for this international break. We corrected a lot of mistakes which have been going on. Technically, I think we’ve improved. If you look at our last game, our intention was very good, we looked like a team that wanted to get the maximum points. We played as a team and now we are looking forward to our first win of the season so that the players can be motivated and gain confidence. There’s a lot of improvement in the team.”
Q: What positives do you take from that performance and what areas are you looking to sharpen?
“Yeah, of course, a lot of positives. Like I said, scoring the first goal of the season was a motivation factor for the boys and it gives them confidence to believe in themselves. We played very well, and our intention was to win that game. We didn’t win, but scoring was a plus for us. Now we are looking forward to getting the maximum points.”
Q: This weekend you face Mutondo Stars, your former club. Does that add any extra feeling or motivation for you?
“I think it’s a big motivation as a coach. I want to win games. Of course, I’m a former Mutondo coach, but this time around I’m with Kansanshi Dynamos. We are looking forward to our first win of the season. We are here to work as a team and to get the maximum points.”
Q: What kind of game are you expecting against Mutondo?
“Yeah, of course, Mutondo have a lot of young and exciting players. We know the approach when you play against young players, they are very energetic, they want to market themselves, they want to prove a point. But we have experience, we’ve played many teams with young players before. We know how to handle that, and we know what we want to achieve at the end of the day. So, we’ll play attacking football, we’ll attack throughout the game.”
Q: Any injury updates or players returning that fans should know about?
“Yeah, on injuries I think it’s just minor knocks. Kelvin Samba is still out with a knock, maybe in two weeks’ time he’ll be back. Even Mubiana and Mbieta also have knocks. But otherwise, 80% of the team is injury-free.”
Q: What’s your main message to the squad as you return to league action?
“Yeah, of course, I’ve been telling them they just need to believe in themselves. And of course, we need to entertain our fans. Our fans are still waiting for the first win, the three points, and it’s also an issue on the technical bench, with the Exco, and with the sponsors. So they just need to support us, we work as a team and we want to win. We just need to work together as a team so that we can win.”
