Match Report: Zanaco FC 1-0 Kansanshi Dynamos FC | Week Two, MTN Super League
Kansanshi Dynamos FC’s first away trip of the season ended in a 1-0 defeat to Zanaco FC in a week-two MTN Super League encounter.
From the first whistle, the Mabanga Boys found themselves in a difficult first half. While they defended with discipline, chances came for Zanaco, although the hosts could not immediately trouble Gregory Sanjase in goal.
In the 20th minute, Rodgers Lukonde went down in the box, but the referee waved play on. Zanaco continued to press, with Lambert Araina taking a shot wide in the 31st minute. Ten minutes later, Chipo Manda struck powerfully, only for Gregory to make a fine save.
Zanaco earned a corner, but it came to nothing. Just before halftime, the hosts combined well, creating another chance, but Kansanshi managed to clear the ball and keep the score level.
At the break, Coach Zeddy Saileti made two early changes, bringing Kizito Kezero in for Timothy Sakala and Mathews Mwale in for Muleta Mubiana, hoping to inject energy and push for a goal.
The Mabanga Boys started the second half strongly, pressing forward and creating opportunities, but the breakthrough wouldn’t come.
In the 59th minute, as Kansanshi seemed to be finding rhythm, Zanaco struck. Lambert Araina, assisted by substitute Gavin Mukandmwene, gave the hosts the lead.
Kansanshi responded with further substitutions in the 78th minute, bringing in Titus Chivunga, Brighton Kabumba, and Thomas Tembo, while Muleta Mubiana, Mike Zizo, and Mathews Mwale made way.
Thomas Tembo delivered a dangerous cross in the 88th minute, which the Zanaco goalkeeper collected safely, leaving Kansanshi without the equalizer. Despite their efforts, Kansanshi couldn’t find the goal they were chasing.
It was a tough day, but the team showed determination and fight. While it wasn’t our best performance, the Mabanga Boys will regroup with their next match against Konkola Blades at Home.
