BOKINGO OPENS HIS ACCOUNT | BRIAN ASSISTS ON DEBUT | KDFC DRAW AGAIN!

MATCH REPORT | Week 9

Kansanshi Dynamos 1–1 Mines United

Independence Stadium, Solwezi

“Tafilesa bwino, naikaba,” were the words of Mines United goalkeeper as he urged his teammates to keep fighting during a first-half water break, and indeed, it took all of their defensive grit to hold off the Mabanga Boys in Solwezi.

Despite a promising start and dominant spells of possession, Kansanshi Dynamos were once again left frustrated at home, settling for a 1–1 draw against Mines United in their Week Nine encounter. The result sparked visible disappointment among fans who had hoped for the team’s first win of the season.

The Mabanga Boys started brightly, with early chances falling to Francisco Madinga, whose 7th-minute effort lacked power, and Kizito Kezeron, who unselfishly squared the ball to Garry Mwelwa, only for the opportunity to go begging. Beby Musangala missed a sitter in the 16th minute, while Madinga hit the post in the 22, as Kansanshi continued to press for an opener.

After the break, coach Zeddy Saileti introduced Willy Bokingo and Dalitso Lungu, later bringing on Julius Mwanza, Kalonji Mwepu, and new signing Brian Mwila, who made his debut for the club.

However, against the run of play, Mines United took the lead in the 71st minute through Prince Shipota, who found space and fired past goalkeeper Gwazani Banda.

The response from Kansanshi was swift, just minutes later, substitute Willy Bokingo scored his first goal for the club, finishing off a clever assist from debutant Brian Mwila to level the score at 1–1.

Despite several late efforts, Kansanshi could not find the winning goal. The draw leaves the Mabanga Boys still searching for their first win of the campaign.

🎙️ Coach Zeddy Saileti’s Reaction

“Very disappointing, playing at home and only picking up one point is not enough. We created a lot of chances, more than two goals’ worth, but we didn’t take them. Mines defended very well and took their one chance. After that, we started panicking. We equalized but again failed to get the second goal. This is football, we just need to sit down, re-plan, and move forward.”
