Kansanshi Dynamos Football Club head coach Zeddy Saileti is focused on guiding the Mabanga Boys toward their first win of the MTN Super League season after a challenging start. After another tough outing last Sunday, the team continues to search for a breakthrough to lift confidence among players, fans, and sponsors.
The coach has acknowledged how tough the start of the season has been for the team, and continues to guide and encourage his players to give their all and make the club proud.
On Sunday, the team suffered a 1-0 defeat away to Mutondo Stars in Week 4 at Arthur Davies Stadium, leaving Kansanshi with two draws and two losses from their opening four matches. The season began with a goalless draw against Kabwe Warriors, followed by a narrow 1-0 loss to Zanaco in Week 2, and a promising 1-1 draw with Konkola in Week 3, before last weekend’s setback in Kitwe.
With a squad coming up from the lower league, Coach Saileti emphasized how important it is for the players to push themselves in the MTN Super League, a competition they have experienced before.
While the result will be disappointing for fans, the players and technical team remain committed to giving their best in every game. Kansanshi started strongly against Mutondo, controlling possession and creating chances in the opening stages, but were undone when Moses Mulenga struck from long range in the 38th minute.
“We started very well, but we seemed to underrate Mutondo. They had one chance, they scored, and from that moment the game became tough because we didn’t play our own game and started chasing the match,” said Saileti.
The coach also noted squad fitness and character as areas requiring improvement:
“Some players returned from the break with knocks, and it showed. We will work closely with the medical team to ensure everyone is fit. Our focus now is on showing the character expected by our fans and sponsors.”
Debutants and squad integration
The match also featured two new signings making their debut. Francisco Madinga started and played 64 minutes, impressing with his energy and link-up play, before being substituted for Willy Bengele Bokingo, who brought fresh attacking options in the latter stages. Saileti is encouraged by how the new players are settling in and believes they will play a key role as the season progresses.
“We are committed to continuing to push. Every match is an opportunity to learn and build confidence,” Saileti added.
Looking ahead, the coach is optimistic about the next fixture against Green Eagles at Independence Stadium, stressing that the team must redeem its confidence and deliver a performance that fans can be proud of.
Despite early-season challenges, the Mabanga Boys are focusing on accountability, discipline, and teamwork to ensure positive results in the matches ahead, with the support of fans and sponsors driving their determination.
