Kansanshi Dynamos Football Club extended their winning streak to three matches with a hard-fought victory over Chipata United in a Week 26 encounter of the ZPL National League.

The match was attended by Mr. Simon Keevil, Kansanshi Foundation Manager, who expressed his delight at the vibrant atmosphere and the club’s growing impact on the local community.

Despite sitting at the bottom of the table with 23 points, Chipata United showed intent, pressing high and looking determined to cause an upset. However, Kansanshi Dynamos, full of confidence from their recent form, stood firm, matching their opponents’ energy while maintaining control of the game.

The early exchanges saw Kansanshi pushing forward in search of an opener. In the 18th minute, Mathews Mwale found himself in space and unleashed a shot at goal, but Chipata United goalkeeper was equal to the task, collecting the effort with ease.

As the match progressed, Kansanshi’s patience and attacking intent paid off. In the 33rd minute, a well-worked move saw Kunda Mazhinga deliver a precise pass into the path of Rabson Mumba, who struck the ball beautifully into the net, giving Kansanshi Dynamos a deserved lead.

With momentum on their side, Kansanshi continued to press. Just before halftime, Rodgers Lukonde sent in a pinpoint cross into the box, setting up Mathew Mwale for what looked like a certain goal. However, the forward failed to make the crucial connection, and the opportunity went begging as the referee signaled for the break.

The second half saw Chipata United pushing for an equalizer, but Kansanshi Dynamos remained composed, managing the game well while looking for chances to extend their lead.

In the 73rd minute, Kalunga came close to doubling the advantage with a powerful shot, only for Chipata United defense to make a crucial block, keeping their hopes alive.

With the game still delicately poised, Kansanshi Dynamos made two changes in the 85th minute, bringing on Kelvin Chisamba for Brighton Kabumba and George Chisala for Kizito Kezeron, adding fresh legs to the team.

A minute later, Lukonde had another chance to put the game to bed, but his shot found the side netting, leaving the fans on the edge of their seats.

Despite the tense closing moments, Kansanshi Dynamos held on to their slender lead, securing another crucial three points in their push for promotion.

After the match, Coach Zeddy Saileti admitted that his team didn’t play their usual fluid football but expressed satisfaction with the result, emphasizing that the most important thing was securing the win.

And Kansanshi Foundation Manager, Simon Keevil, clearly enjoyed both the match and the passionate support from the fans.

“I hope to see much more of what happened today. It’s a fantastic opportunity for the community to come together, and they clearly love it. It’s truly a unifying event. There’s so much life, and it’s fantastic to see. I look forward to attending many more matches,” Mr. Keevil shared.

With this victory, Kansanshi Dynamos move to 54 points, continuing to build momentum in their ZPL National League campaign.
