Weekend Recap: Mixed Fortunes for Kansanshi Dynamos Teams

It was a weekend of mixed results for the Kansanshi Dynamos Football Club family, as all four teams were in action across different leagues.

Senior Team Fall Short in Chirundu

Kansanshi Dynamos FC’s push for Championship and Promotion suffered a minor setback as the senior team recorded their third defeat of the season, falling 2-1 to Chirundu United in a crucial ZPL National League Week 27 fixture.

The Mabanga Boys created several scoring opportunities in the first half but were left to rue their missed chances as Chirundu United punished them with two goals. Despite a spirited second-half comeback, Coach Zeddy Saileti’s side could only manage a consolation goal, scored by Remmy Chanda in the 65th minute — his first goal of the campaign.

Speaking after the match, Coach Saileti described the loss as “painful”, lamenting his team’s inability to convert chances and acknowledging the pressure his players feel when chasing league leaders Konkola Blades. Kansanshi Dynamos remain five points adrift of Konkola Blades, who dropped points earlier with a draw — a missed opportunity for the Mabanga Boys to close the gap.

Young Kansanshi United Share Spoils

Meanwhile, the junior side Young Kansanshi United played to a goalless draw against Mbonge FC in a Week 26 fixture of the FAZ Division One Provincial League.

The draw sees Coach Mwape Kasunka’s boys remain third on the log with 45 points, as they continue their campaign to retain their league title.

Kansanshi Queens Back to Winning Ways

In the ZPL Women’s National League-North, Kansanshi Queens secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Ntindi Shining Stars in a Week 23 clash. Ruth Chinyama netted the decisive goal from the penalty spot after Ethel Katambi was brought down in the box.

The victory moves Kansanshi Queens to sixth on the log with 32 points as they aim to finish strong in a competitive Northern Pool, where only the top two teams qualify for the Super League.

Kansanshi Academy Fall to Late Goals

In the FAZ Division Four Northwestern League, Kansanshi Academy suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Solwezi Academy.

Evans Mwamba opened the scoring in the 13th minute, but two late goals in the 75th and 85th minutes saw Kansanshi Academy surrender all three points, despite a promising start to the match.
