MATCH UPDATE: Kansanshi Dynamos FC vs. Kafue Eagles (Week 28 – ZPL National League)
π
Date: 15 March 2025
π Venue: Independence Stadium, Solwezi
Kansanshi Dynamos FCβs Week 28 match against Kafue Eagles has been called off after Kafue Eagles failed to travel for the fixture.
The match commissioner, Mr. Raphael Ngombe, confirmed that a report will be submitted to the Zambia Premier League (ZPL) and FAZ for a final decision, with a possible outcome being a walkover in favor of Kansanshi Dynamos FC.
According to communication received from Kafue Eagles, the opponents confirmed that they had to forfeit the match due to logistical issues, which led to their failure to travel. As per league regulations, Kansanshi Dynamos proceeded with all necessary pre-game activities, including warm-ups, and waited the required 30 minutes for a final call-off.
While the three points are yet to be confirmed, todayβs situation comes with mixed emotions for Kansanshi Dynamos, especially following last weekendβs loss to Chirundu United. The team was set to deliver an exciting match for the home fans.
Independence Stadium has remained a fortress this season, with Kansanshi Dynamos unbeaten in 13 consecutive home games. The players were eager to bounce back and maintain that strong home record in front of their loyal supporters.
The three points, if confirmed, will move Kansanshi Dynamos to 57 points, just three points behind log leaders Konkola Blades, keeping the promotion race very much alive.
In an unusual twist, the developmental side, Young Kansanshi, who were also scheduled to play Max Palace FC in a curtain-raiser, also saw their opponents fail to travel.
Head Coach Zeddy Saileti shared his thoughts on the situation:
“We were ready to play and give our home fans an exciting game. Independence Stadium has been good to us in terms of results, but weβre happy with the three points because every point is important to us at this stage. Itβs unfortunate the match didnβt take place, but weβll take the points and now focus on preparing for the next challenge.”
The Club sincerely appreciate the support from the loyal fans who came to the stadium. The fight for promotion continues, and we remain focused on achieving our goal.
