Kansanshi Dynamos FC delivered a composed and clinical performance to defeat FC MUZA 3-0 in Mazabuka, as the Mabanga Boys made their long trip count in a crucial Week 30 fixture.
The visitors started brightly and showed early attacking intent. In the 8th minute, Garry Mwelwa delivered a dangerous cross into the box, but the MUZA defence reacted quickly to clear the danger.
KDFC’s pressure paid off in the 19th minute, when Mwepu Kalonji opened the scoring with a well-taken finish, assisted by Kizito Keziron, giving the Mabanga Boys a deserved lead.
FC MUZA responded with attacking urgency and came close in the 28th minute, but goalkeeper Gregory produced a solid save to deny them.
The hosts continued to threaten, and in the 34th minute, they created a golden opportunity. Lewis Kasono found himself in a promising position but failed to convert, with a slight defensive touch helping KDFC clear the danger. MUZA followed up with consecutive corners, but Kansanshi Dynamos remained resolute.
A minute later, KDFC nearly doubled their lead through Dalitso, but the goalkeeper reacted quickly to clear.
The Mabanga Boys, however, did extend their advantage in the 38th minute, as Dalitso Lungu marked his return in style, scoring in his second appearance after a long spell out. He finished confidently from an assist by Willy Bokingo, putting KDFC firmly in control.
Just before the break, in the 44th minute, Garry Mwelwa had a chance to add a third, but his effort was straight at the goalkeeper.
The second half saw Kansanshi Dynamos continue to threaten while maintaining defensive discipline. In the 57th minute, they came close to extending their lead with a flurry of chances, but were denied by the woodwork and the MUZA goalkeeper in a dramatic sequence.
FC MUZA pushed in search of a goal in the 64th minute, but KDFC stayed compact at the back.
Another big moment followed in the 68th minute, when the hosts created a clear chance at the near post, but Gregory produced an excellent save to preserve the clean sheet.
Kansanshi Dynamos remained dangerous on the counter and eventually sealed the victory in added time. Garry Mwelwa, who had earlier been denied, found the back of the net in the 90+3 minute, finishing off a move assisted by Mathews Mutambo to cap off a dominant performance.
The result sees Kansanshi Dynamos move to 35 points, strengthening their push to maintain their place in the MTN Super League.
