MATCH REPORT | Konkola Blades 2-1 Kansanshi Dynamos FC

Kansanshi Dynamos FC suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat away to Konkola Blades in a Week-20 MTN Super League encounter played at Konkola Stadium.

The Solwezi outfit started the match brightly and showed early attacking intent. The hosts threatened first in the 4th minute when Christopher Mwansa delivered a dangerous cross, but Reagan Mutongo’s header drifted slightly wide of goal.

KDFC responded well and nearly opened the scoring in the 13th minute as Mubiana forced a save from the goalkeeper, with the resulting corner coming to nothing. The pressure eventually paid off in the 26th minute when Kalonji Mwepu found the breakthrough to give Kansanshi a deserved 1-0 lead.

After the restart, the technical bench introduced Mike Zozi in place of Zeliat Nkhoma as the visitors looked to maintain control. However, the game’s momentum shifted as Konkola began to apply pressure. In the 64th minute, goalscorer Kalonji Mwepu was forced off following a tough challenge, with Brighton Kabumba coming on as his replacement.

Kansanshi had a chance to extend their advantage in the 68th minute, but Raphael Silwimba narrowly missed from close range. The hosts capitalised shortly after, equalising in the 72nd minute following a scramble in the box that resulted in an unfortunate own goal by Mathews Banda.

Konkola completed the turnaround six minutes later when Mike Nyangu found the back of the net to make it 2-1, a scoreline that remained until the final whistle.

Despite the result, the team received strong support from Solwezi Mayor Remmy Kalepa, a passionate fan of Kansanshi Dynamos FC, who was in attendance to cheer on the boys. After the match, he encouraged the squad not to dwell on the loss but to regroup, stay focused, and push for an improved performance in their next fixture.

Post-Match Reaction – Assistant Coach Dennis Makinka πŸŽ™οΈ
Assistant Coach Dennis Makinka acknowledged the hosts’ second-half pressure while stressing the need for improved concentration levels.

β€œFirst of all, congratulations to Konkola. They pushed a lot, especially in the second half. At halftime we asked the boys to press higher, but we ended up defending too deep and allowed them to come at us.”

Makinka added that the team must quickly regroup and focus on the next assignment:
β€œThis result is water under the bridge now. We have lost the points, but we have to prepare well and come back stronger. The boys are disappointed, but we need to improve our concentration, especially after halftime.”

Kansanshi Dynamos FC will now shift attention to their next league fixture as they aim to bounce back stronger.
