Kansanshi Dynamos FC delivered a five-star performance, securing a dominant 5-1 victory over Leopards Hill FC in today’s Week 20 ZPL National League match. The win pushes the team to 41 points, maintaining second place in the standings, and leaves Head Coach Zeddy Saileti thrilled with his players’ efforts.
This result also serves as sweet revenge for Kansanshi, who were narrowly defeated by Leopards Hill in the first round, Week-three. The tables have now turned, with today’s stunning display showing the strength and determination of the team.
The match got off to a tense start when Tranquilin Mwepu was stretchered off after a knock in the opening minute. Fortunately, Mwepu returned to the field just two minutes later after receiving treatment from the medical team.
Raphael Zulu made an early impact, pulling off a brilliant save in the 16th minute to deny Potiphar Zulu a goal-scoring opportunity. Then, in the 18th minute, Mwepu was inches away from giving the team the lead, his powerful shot just wide of the target.
The breakthrough finally came in the 22nd minute, with Kizito Kezero scoring a beautiful goal from a perfectly timed pass by Rodgers Lukonde, putting the Mabanga Boys ahead.
In the 26th minute, Raphael Zulu continued to shine, making another crucial save, this time, tipping the ball over the bar to deny the visitors an equalizer. Zulu, playing his first game ever for Kansanshi Dynamos, had stepped in for Gregory Sanjase, who had picked up a knock in training a day before the match.
In the 30th minute, Clinton Lubula had a chance to extend the lead with the goalkeeper off his line, but his effort went just wide.
Leopards Hill’s defense continued to stand firm, with a brilliant clearance stopping Mwepu’s shot right on the line in the 34th minute, denying Kansanshi a second goal.
Then came Kelvin ‘Kacho’ Chisamba’s moment in added time at the end of the first half (45+’). A fantastic pass from Kizito Kezero set up Chisamba, who finished with finesse, putting Kansanshi in a commanding 3-0 lead.
The visitors pulled one back in the 52nd minute through Josphat Kasusu, but the Dynamos responded quickly. Coach Saileti made key substitutions in the 58th minute, bringing on Chali Mulaisho for Mwepu and Rabson Mumba for Clinton Lubula.
In the 62nd minute, Chisamba completed his brace, scoring from the penalty spot after Kizito Kezero was fouled in the box by Weta Boleka.
In the 70th minute, Coach Saileti made further changes, introducing Ackson Ndalama for Julius Mwanza and Mathews Mwale for Chisamba.
In the 72nd minute, Raphael Zulu once again came to the rescue, making a brilliant save to keep the visitors from scoring their second goal.
Finally, in the 82nd minute, Chali Mulaisho sealed the win with a stunning long-range strike, giving Kansanshi their fifth goal of the match.
A final substitution in the 83rd minute saw Rodgers Chitambala replaced by Mathews Mutambo, as the match came to a close with a dominant 5-1 scoreline.
In his post-match Interview, Kansanshi Dynamos FC Head Coach Zeddy Saileti praised his boys for a good performance saying what the team is doing in training is paying off.
The Mabanga Boys will now shift focus to their week-21 match against River PLate FC scheduled for Lusaka this coming weekend.
