Kansanshi Dynamos Football Club kicked off their 2025/26 MTN Super League campaign with a 0–0 draw in their week-one clash against Kabwe Warriors FC.
Coach Zeddy Saileti expressed confidence despite the failure to find the net, noting that the team is focused on building momentum after a goalless run in both the FQM Challenge and the Charity Shield last week.
Independence Stadium was packed to capacity, with fans traveling from across the region to support the Mabanga Boys in their return to the top flight after last season in the National League.
Action started early, with Dalitso Lungu testing the Warriors’ goalkeeper in the 4th minute, only to see his effort saved.
In the 17th minute, goalkeeper Gregory produced a brilliant one-on-one save to deny Saith Sakala a clear chance.
The 31st minute saw Mathews Mutambo make a crucial clearance to deny the visitors, forcing a corner that Kansanshi successfully defended.
At the 37th minute, Chitambala delivered a dangerous cross into the box, but Dalitso just missed connecting.
In the 44th minute, Mwepu fired a strong shot, only for it to land in the keeper’s hands.
Coach Saileti reflected: “It’s not a bad result. The performance was solid, and although we missed some chances, we take this draw and focus on building for the next game. Of course, we wanted to win, but we will improve.”
Fans may have been disappointed that the team couldn’t secure a victory, but their unwavering support made Independence Stadium an electric atmosphere.
Kansanshi Dynamos, now also boosted by the arrival of new co-kit sponsors Integrated Engineering Services (IES), will face Zanaco FC in Lusaka in their next league fixture.
