Kansanshi Dynamos will be looking to build on the opening point of the 2026 ZPL Transitional League campaign when the Fearless Mabanga Boys face FC MUZA at Nakambala Stadium on Saturday.
The team began the campaign with a goalless draw against Makeni All Stars at Reiz Arena, while FC MUZA also picked up a point after drawing 1–1 with NAPSA Stars.
With both sides entering Week Two on one point, Saturday’s encounter presents an opportunity to secure a first victory and move up the Stream A standings.
For Kansanshi, the opening fixture provided a clean sheet and a valuable point, while also highlighting areas that have been a focus during preparations this week, particularly in the final third.
The Transitional League presents a different challenge, with each team playing 18 matches before the conclusion of the league phase. The team finishing top of Stream A will advance to the Championship Match, making every point important as the campaign progresses.
KANSANSHI CONTINUE PREPARATIONS IN LUSAKA
Preparations for the MUZA encounter have been ongoing throughout the week, with the squad camped in Lusaka.
Head Coach Denis Makinka says the team has recovered well from the opening fixture, with morale remaining high in camp.
“So far so good. I think we’ve rested well and we’ve recovered from the game against Makeni. The boys are enjoying camp. Morale is high. Everything is good, and we are getting ready for the MUZA game.”
Having identified the final third as an area requiring improvement, the coaching staff has placed emphasis on finishing and attacking play during the week’s training sessions.
Makinka believes the work done in training can translate into a more effective attacking performance on Saturday.
“We didn’t create much in the previous game. I think we had a few shots on target. But the few days that we’ve worked on finishing and just the final third especially, I think there’s something positive coming out.”
The coach is confident the improvements made during the week can help the team produce a positive result.
“I think we’ll be able to get a good result over the weekend.”
RESPECT FOR A FAMILIAR OPPONENT
Saturday’s fixture will be the seventh competitive meeting between Kansanshi Dynamos and FC MUZA since the 2022/23 season.
Kansanshi have enjoyed the better record across the previous six encounters, recording four victories, one draw and one defeat. The most recent meeting ended in a convincing 3–0 victory for the Fearless Mabanga Boys during the 2025/26 season, with Kalonji Mwepu, Dalitso Lungu and Garry Mwelwa on the scoresheet.
However, Makinka says past results will count for little when the two sides meet again.
The coach has warned his players against complacency and stressed the need to give MUZA the respect they deserve.
“Looking at MUZA, they’re a very good team. They play very well. If you underrate them, you can be shocked.”
The message within the camp is therefore to remain focused on the task at hand rather than dwell on what has happened in previous meetings.
“What we are concentrating on is playing to win and not to avoid losing.”
