Kansanshi Dynamos Football Club recorded their second consecutive victory after edging visitors Nkwazi FC 1–0 in a Week 16 MTN Super League encounter played at Independence Stadium in Solwezi on Saturday afternoon.
Mwepu Kalonji was once again on target for the Mabanga Boys, scoring the only goal of the match in the 7th minute to secure maximum points for the home side.
The match was graced by Solwezi Mayor Remmy Kalepa, alongside officials from club sponsors Kansanshi Mining PLC, led by club patron Ryan Ellis and Mazila Mwinga, Manager – Human Resources at Kansanshi Mine. Their presence provided added motivation for the team.
Kansanshi Dynamos made a dream start to the game when Kalonji Mwepu found the back of the net in the 7th minute, capitalising on early pressure to give the hosts the lead.
In the 24th minute, Mwepu nearly doubled his tally after breaking through for a one-on-one opportunity, but his effort failed to convert and was eventually flagged offside.
Beby Musangala tested the Nkwazi goalkeeper in the 39th minute with a powerful strike, but the shot was well saved. Moments later, Nkwazi responded, though their attempt drifted wide.
The visitors pushed harder in the second half in search of an equaliser. In the 70th minute, George Ndhlovu had two opportunities for Nkwazi, one from a corner that was cleared and a long-range effort that missed the target.
Kansanshi almost sealed the game in the 74th minute when Willy delivered a perfectly weighted cross, but Beby failed to make the final connection from a promising position.
Despite late pressure from Nkwazi, Kansanshi Dynamos held firm to secure a crucial 1–0 victory.

Post-Match Reactions
Kansanshi Dynamos Patron, Ryan Ellis:
“We are seeing good football and good results. We are proud. As Kansanshi, we believe in you.”
Solwezi Mayor, Remmy Kalepa:
“We are coming from a win and now we have another win. You are bringing everyone here. These are the results we are happy to see. Good job, and we are looking forward to the next game.”
Assistant Coach – Dennis Makinka:
“First of all, kudos to the boys. Today they delivered a performance I’ve never seen before. From Monday, they gave their all in preparation because we knew how Nkwazi play.
The plan was to stay compact and catch them on the counter, and it worked well. The supporters were superb—it felt like we played as one team: supporters, management, and players.
Going into the next game, this win gives us confidence, but consistency is key. We need to correct a few things, especially our pressing in the second half, as we prepare for the next match.”
