WEEK-16 MTN SUPER LEAGUE | SATURDAY, JANUARY 24| INDEPENDENCE STADIUM, SOLWEZI.
Kansanshi Dynamos FC return to home action this weekend as they host Nkwazi FC in Matchday 16 of the MTN Super League, marking the club’s first home fixture of 2026 at Independence Stadium.
The Mabanga Boys head into the encounter encouraged by a positive result in their previous outing, where they secured a vital victory over FC Leopards. The win has boosted confidence within the camp as the team looks to build momentum in the second half of the season.
Saturday’s fixture is finely balanced, with both sides level on 14 points, while Nkwazi FC hold a slight advantage on goal difference. With positions on the log closely contested, the encounter presents an important opportunity for both teams.
The side will be led on matchday by Assistant Coach and Acting Head Coach Dennis Makinka, with Head Coach Fathi Mohammed Fathi currently in Egypt undertaking a CAF Pro Licence course.

Prepared and focused
Speaking ahead of the match, Makinka acknowledged the challenge posed by the visitors while expressing confidence in his side’s preparation.
“It’s a tricky fixture. Nkwazi are a team that never gives up easily. They have togetherness, unity and experience on their technical bench. But we have prepared well for this game.”
Managing momentum and mentality
Despite the lift from the recent victory, the technical bench has emphasized the need for discipline and focus.
“We are coming from a positive result and it has motivated us to do even better. At the same time, we are constantly talking to the boys about complacency and mentality. We are taking each game at a time.”
Tactical and mental readiness
With both sides seeking to climb the table, the Mabanga Boys are expecting a demanding contest.
“They are also fighting to move away from the lower places, so it will be tough. We’ve prepared tactically, and we’ve also prepared the boys mentally. Matches against the police side are always physical and challenging.”
Facing familiar opposition
The fixture also carries personal significance for Makinka, who will come up against his former club, though his focus remains firmly on the team’s collective objectives.
“It’s my former club and it will be good to reunite with people I worked with for a long time. There’s no pressure, the only pressure is to do well as a team and move forward together.”
With preparations complete and belief growing, Kansanshi Dynamos FC will be aiming to make full use of home advantage as they seek another positive result in front of their supporters.
