Kansanshi Dynamos FC made a statement on the road in todayโs Week-25 ZPL National League clash, securing a hard-fought 2-0 win over Chambishi FC at Chambishi Stadium.
The match saw new faces on the scoresheet, with debutant Brighton Kabumba and Ignitius Kalunga both finding the back of the net. Kabumba opened his account in his first match for the club, while Kalunga, making his second appearance, sealed the win with a second-half strike.
Action started in the 7th minute, Mike Zoziโs expertly taken free kick forced the Chambishi goalkeeper into a fumble, but Kansanshi couldnโt make the most of the resulting corner. Moments later, the hosts threatened with a dangerous attempt, but goalkeeper Raphael was quick to make a crucial save.
Kizito Kezeron then unleashed a stunning long-range shot in the 15th minute, but it went just wide of the target. As the first half progressed, Kansanshi continued to knock on the door, with Kabumba rising highest to meet a cross in the 18th minute, but his header narrowly missed.
However, the breakthrough came in the 25th minute when Kabumba scored on his debut. A perfectly delivered cross from Mathews Mutambo found Kabumba, who powered in a header to give Kansanshi the lead.

Chambishi had a chance to respond just before the break, winning a free kick near the box in the 43rd minute, but they failed to capitalize on the opportunity.
After the break, the hosts pushed for an equalizer, but Kansanshi remained resolute. In the 53rd minute, Kizito came close again, but his shot curled just wide. Moments later, Rabson Mumba tested the goalkeeper, but his effort was collected comfortably.
Kizitoโs attempt to play in Mwepu in the 59th minute was wasted as the chance went begging. But the hosts continued to press, earning back-to-back corner kicks in the 61st minute, though they failed to produce anything dangerous.
Kansanshi made two key changes in the 66th minute, bringing on George Chisala and Kalunga. And it was Kalunga who struck again in the 78th minute, dancing past defenders and finishing coolly with the assist from Rabson Mumba to double Kansanshiโs lead.
With fresh legs on the field, Kansanshi saw out the game, and even though Chambishi made a final push in the 85th minute, Remmy Chanda was there to block the attempt, ensuring the clean sheet.
The final whistle blew, and Kansanshi Dynamos walked away with a 2-0 victory and three vital points. Coach Zeddy Saileti was pleased with his team’s response, highlighting their solid performance and the positive steps taken since their last outing.
Next up, Kansanshi returns home to face Chipata United at Independence Stadium, where they will look to continue their push for the top spot.
