WEEKEND RECAP | KANSANSHI DYNAMOS FC FAMILY

It was a busy weekend for some of our teams, with both the senior side and Kansanshi Queens in action, while our developmental teams continued their preparations for the season ahead.

At Independence Stadium, the Mabanga Boys were held to a 1–1 draw by Konkola Blades in their Week Three MTN Super League encounter.

The afternoon began with a moment of honour, as both teams formed a guard of honour for Girese Muyumba, celebrating his retirement after years of dedicated service to the game. Before kick-off, the club also unveiled our new goalkeeper, Gwazani Banda, a welcome addition between the posts.

The match itself started brightly, with both sides showing attacking intent. It was the visitors who struck first in the 12th minute, when Kelvin Kapumbu tapped in from a corner delivered by former KDFC player Justine Kangombe.

Despite the early setback, Kansanshi Dynamos fought back, driven on by the passionate home crowd. Dalisto Lungu, who had already gone close in the 8th minute, found the equalizer in the 28th minute, rising highest to head home from a Joseph Chomba corner. It was the Mabanga Boys’ first goal of the season, and a big moment for the team.

Lungu’s afternoon was unfortunately cut short by injury, forcing him off in the 38th minute.

The match also marked a proud milestone for the club: Mapalo Chitundu, a product of Young Kansanshi United, made his senior debut. Having trained with the senior team for the past two seasons, Mapalo finally earned his first minutes and showed impressive confidence on the big stage.

Head Coach Zeddy Saileti acknowledged the mixed emotions after the game:

“I saw some positive attitude from the players today. Scoring our first goal of the season is important, and it shows progress. We just need to be more clinical with the chances we are creating.”

KANSANSHI QUEENS WIN

Meanwhile in Nakonde, Kansanshi Queens returned to winning ways with a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Nakonde Titans in Nakonde. This was the first match under new Head Coach Mwape Kasunka.

The goals came from new signings: Theresa Nayame (39’) and Justina Kabese (45+2’) gave the Queens control before halftime. The hosts pulled one back in the 59th minute through Dorcas Nakundi, but the Queens defended their lead well to secure all three points.

NEXT GAMES

With the international break, both Kansanshi Dynamos FC and Kansanshi Queens will not be in action this coming weekend.

As for our other sides:

  • Young Kansanshi United continue preparing for their season, with the FAZ North-Western Provincial Division One League kicking off on September 6th.
  • Kansanshi Academy (U15 & U17) are still awaiting their fixtures, as the youth season is yet to get underway.

There will be no fixtures this coming weekend due to the international break, but the full Kansanshi family continues working hard on and off the pitch.
