Kansanshi Dynamos FC wrapped up their 2025/26 MTN Super League campaign with a goalless draw against Nkana FC in an entertaining and high-intensity encounter at Independence Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Despite the match ending without goals, both sides produced an energetic display in front of a lively crowd as the curtain came down on the season.
The Mabanga Boys started brightly and nearly found an early breakthrough just three minutes into the contest when Kalonji Mwepu unleashed a powerful effort at goal. The Nkana goalkeeper managed to get a touch on the ball, but it still rolled dangerously toward the net before a defender rushed back to clear it off the line.
Kansanshi continued to apply pressure in the opening stages, with several efforts inside the penalty area blocked amid a scramble in the box before Nkana eventually cleared the danger.
The visitors slowly settled into the game and earned their first corner in the 15th minute through Kendrick Mumba, while Kansanshi remained dangerous on the counterattack.
Another golden opportunity arrived in the 24th minute after slick combination play between Mwepu and Kizito Kezron created an opening following a defensive lapse, but the forward could not convert from close range.
The second half continued at a high tempo, with both sides showing urgency and attacking intent. Nkana nearly broke the deadlock in the 60th minute after carving out a good opportunity, but the effort drifted wide.
Two minutes later, Gwazani Banda produced an excellent save to deny Francis Debra after the Nkana attacker fired a shot on target.
Coach Dennis Makinka introduced fresh legs throughout the second half as Dalitso and Bokingo came on in the 59th minute before Clinton and Julius were introduced later in the game. Brighton Kabumba also entered the fray in the closing stages as Kansanshi searched for a winner.

Speaking after the match, Assistant Coach Dennis Makinka praised the fighting spirit shown by the players throughout the campaign.
“First of all, I want to appreciate the boys and congratulate them for the fight. When we started the season, things were very difficult, but they kept pushing and eventually we started picking points,” he said.
“I’m so proud of this group because everyone we called upon worked hard for the team. Though this is not the result we wanted today, the boys fought very well.”
Makinka also reflected positively on the team’s return season in the Super League after earning promotion from the National Division One campaign last season.
“Overall, I’m happy with the performance this season. We should improve our starts next season because we dropped many points early on, but the boys have done their best and I believe they will do even better next season.”
The result sees Kansanshi Dynamos successfully securing survival in their return season to the MTN Super League.
