KDFC Return to Super League with Charity Shield Clash vs Konkola Blades

Kansanshi Dynamos Football Club has been officially invited to take part in the 2025/2026 curtain raiser, the 2025 Carling Black Label Charity Shield, scheduled for the weekend of August 9th and 10th at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

The invitation comes in recognition of the club’s outstanding performance in the 2024/25 ZPL Men’s National League, which saw Coach Zeddy Saileti’s side finish second, just behind Konkola Blades FC, who topped the league. Interestingly, Kansanshi Dynamos will face Konkola Blades in the Carling Black Label Charity Shield clash, bringing together the top two teams from the recently concluded National League season in a fitting season opener.

In a letter received from the Zambian Premier League (ZPL), Kansanshi Dynamos was selected among the top-performing clubs from the previous campaign to participate in the season curtain-raiser, which traditionally features the MTN Super League champions, ABSA Cup winners, and now, the top two teams from the National League.

“This is a proud moment for the club, and being part of the Charity Shield is a huge motivation as we prepare for life back in the Super League,” said Kansanshi Dynamos General Secretary, Mr. Mweshi Mupeta.

The club’s promotion to the 2025/26 MTN Super League was also formally confirmed in the same communication. Kansanshi finished second in the National League, securing a return to Zambia’s elite football tier.

“The Zambian Premier League is pleased to officially notify Kansanshi Dynamos FC of your promotion to the MTN Super League for the 2025/26 season. This follows your impressive performance and second-place finish in the 2024/2025 ZOL Men’s National League,” read part of the letter.

The Mabanga Boys are now ramping up preparations for the new season under the rallying theme “Unified We Succeed,” aiming to solidify their Super League status and make an early statement in the Charity Shield showdown against Konkola Blades.

More details on kick-off times and matchday logistics are expected in due course, as the countdown to the new season officially begins.
