Fresh from a historic campaign that saw them crowned Northern Region champions and secure promotion to the Womenβs Super League, Kansanshi Queens are now turning their attention to another piece of silverware.
The Queens travelled to Lusaka on Thursday ahead of Saturdayβs Charity Shield clash against Young Elite Ladies, the champions of the Southern Region.
Head coach Mwape Kasunka says the team is excited and feeling positive ahead of the encounter, adding that the Queens have prepared well for the challenge, both physically and mentally.
With both teams coming into the match as regional champions, Kasunka says the Queens are focused on delivering a positive performance and making the most of the opportunity.
Meanwhile, defender Tukiya Kaiko says the team has worked hard and pushed together to reach this stage, and the players are excited about the opportunity to compete for the Charity Shield.
Kaiko says the match will also provide valuable preparation ahead of the upcoming 2026 Transitional League.
βWe have worked hard as a team and pushed together to reach this far. We are very excited to take part in the Charity Shield. The game will also help us prepare for the Transitional League,β Kaiko said.
The Charity Shield will bring together two regional champions, with Kansanshi Queens representing the North and Young Elite Ladies representing the South, as both sides battle for the first piece of silverware.
