Kansanshi Edge NAPSA in Thrilling Five-Goal Encounter

Kansanshi Dynamos FC secured a crucial 3-2 victory over NAPSA Stars FC in an action-packed MTN Super League Week 27 fixture, earning three valuable points at home.

The hosts made a bright start and were rewarded in the 13th minute when Zeliat Nkhoma opened his account for the club. The forward rose highest to meet a well-delivered corner from Rodgers Lukonde, powering in a header to give Kansanshi the lead.

However, NAPSA Stars responded in the 20th minute after being awarded a penalty. Dickson Chapa converted from the spot following a handball by Titus Chivunga, bringing the visitors level at 1-1.

The game remained finely balanced heading into the second half, with both sides pushing for the advantage. Kansanshi regained the lead in the 54th minute through Kalonji Mwepu, who produced a moment of individual brilliance to put the hosts back in front.

NAPSA Stars refused to back down and equalized once again in the 58th minute, with Chapa grabbing his second of the match to make it 2-2 and set up a tense final half hour.

In the 66th minute, Kansanshi had a golden opportunity to restore their lead, but Bebe Musangala missed a sitter, firing his effort just wide, much to the frustration of the technical bench.

The decisive moment came in the 83rd minute when Kansanshi Dynamos were awarded a penalty after Sydney Phiri handled the ball inside the box. Brian Mwila stepped up and calmly converted from the spot to seal a 3-2 victory for the hosts.

Speaking after the match, Assistant Coach Dennis Makinka praised the team’s resilience despite moments of lapse in concentration.

“First of all, I want to commend the boys for the hard-fought victory. They really worked hard. Though we had some lapses in concentration today, I always believed we were going to win.

We started the game well and were focused, but after scoring, we lost concentration a bit and conceded cheap goals we shouldn’t have allowed.

Overall, I’m happy with the performance. Titus came back after a long time and did very well. Zeliat also returned from injury and got a goal, which is great for us. Mwepu was also back and scored. We are very happy.

It’s a good win, especially against a team close to us on the table. It gives us some cushion.”

The victory provides Kansanshi Dynamos with a significant boost as they continue their push in the league.
