KDFC Aim to Finish First Round Strong Against Nkana.
The 2025/26 MTN Super League has reached the halfway mark, with Kansanshi Dynamos Football Club set to visit Nkana FC in a Week 17 fixture that concludes the first round of the season.
It will not be an easy encounter for the Mabanga Boys, who face a well-supported Nkana side at home. Only a single point separates the two teams on the league table, with Kansanshi Dynamos sitting 13th on 17 points, while Nkana FC are just below them on 16 points.
Both sides come into this match in good form, having each recorded victories in their last two outings as they continue to push away from the relegation zone.
Assistant Coach Dennis Makinka will be on the bench for Kansanshi Dynamos, standing in for Head Coach Mohamed Fathi, who is currently out of the country attending his CAF Pro Licence course. Makinka has previewed the encounter scheduled for tomorrow at Nkana Stadium.
The Coach says the team is well prepared for the Week 17 encounter.
“We have done our preparations and the boys are looking good. We worked on the areas where we had lapses in the previous game, and the response from the players has been very positive. We fixed a few things and also improved on the things we did well, especially our compactness and ball retention. The team is ready, and if we had to play today, they would be ready.”
Makinka acknowledged the challenge of facing Nkana FC at their home ground but stressed that his side is prepared and confident.
“Nkana is a big and experienced team, a legendary club with coaches who have won the league before. We respect them, but we are not afraid. Before the game starts, it’s 0–0, 11 versus 11, and anyone can win. They have won their last two games, and we have also won our last two games, so both teams are coming into this match in good form.”
On playing in front of a strong home crowd, he added:
“We know Nkana Stadium will be packed because their supporters have seen their team perform well recently. It will be a tough match, but we are ready to give them a good run.”
Speaking on mindset and consistency, Makinka emphasized the need to stay focused.
“We are telling the boys not to be complacent. Champions never plateau; they continue rising. We must stay united, work for each other, and everyone must give their best for the badge. These are difficult games because we are all fighting to move away from the bottom, and we need to keep pushing for maximum points.”
Makinka also believes his previous experience with Nkana gives him an understanding of the opponent.
“I have worked with some of the players before, so I know how they play. Planning becomes easier because we understand their strengths, and we have worked on how to counter them.”
