Kansanshi Dynamos- Stubborn in Search of That First Win
Another frustrating weekend at Independence Stadium as Kansanshi Dynamos were held to a 1–1 draw by Red Arrows. We remain without a win all season, with our record now standing at 0 wins, 4 draws, and 3 losses in the first seven games of the Super League.
We started strongly, with Rodgers Lukonde’s strike just before halftime giving us the lead, his second goal of the season. In the 54th minute, Faustine Bakodila inadvertently nodded the ball into his own net while attempting to clear Albert Kangwanda’s shot, bringing the visitors level.
Although we dominated possession, created several chances, and even introduced Beby Musangala for his debut, we couldn’t turn that control into all three points.
Head Coach Zeddy Saileti was not on the bench for this match, serving a one-game suspension following a red card received in the previous fixture against Mufulira Wanderers.
After the game, assistant coach Mukundika Sakala, who took charge on the day, said:
“It’s disappointing because we were in control of the game and really needed this win. We made one mistake and it cost us. Apart from that, the boys put in a good performance, we can’t take that away from them. We’ll go back to the drawing board and keep pushing. With the same intensity, I’m confident we’ll soon get the win we’re looking for.”
Young Kansanshi United- A Breakthrough at Last.
On a brighter note, our developmental side Young Kansanshi United finally cracked their drought. In the rescheduled Week 1 fixture of the FAZ Division One (North-West Province – Zone A), they registered their first win of the season after defeating Maheba Rangers.
Goals came through Ramazani, an own goal, and a fine finish from William Daka. The victory is a huge confidence boost for the youngsters and sets a positive tone as they look to build momentum going forward.
Kansanshi Queens & Academy – A Week of Pause
Our Kansanshi Queens were not in action this weekend. They will return to play this coming weekend in the ZPL Women’s National League – North.
Similarly, our Academy sides did not play their scheduled FAZ Division Three matches this past weekend.
WHAT’S NEXT
The senior team was set to face Power Dynamos on October 18, but the match will be postponed due to Power’s CAF Champions League engagement. This means Kansanshi Dynamos will be off for two weeks, with the current week also serving as an international break. The next fixture will be against Mine in Week 9.
Kansanshi Queens will travel to Kabwe for their Week 7 match against Bwacha Pirates.
Young Kansanshi United will face Kimale Stars in their Week 7 fixture.
The Academy side will be at home against City Bullets.
