Kansanshi Dynamos FC have stepped up their preparations for the 2026 Transitional League after arriving in Kitwe on Saturday for an intensive eight-day pre-season camp.
The camp forms an important part of the club’s preparations for the upcoming campaign, providing Head Coach Dennis Makinka and his technical bench with valuable time to work closely with the squad on several key areas, including team cohesion, the integration of new players, fitness and tactical preparations.
The team got straight to work on Sunday, holding their first training session in Kitwe at an area locally known as “The Dam,” where the players made use of the sandy terrain as part of their conditioning work.
With new faces joining the squad, the camp is also providing an opportunity for the players to build relationships, improve their understanding of one another and strengthen cohesion both on and off the pitch.
Makinka says the outing has already provided a positive environment for the team to come together, with unity among the key areas being emphasised during the camp.
“We are looking at team cohesion and just bringing the team together, unity. It’s always very difficult to break something which is united than something which is divided. So we want to be more united than ever if we are to achieve our targets this season,” Makinka said.
Beyond team bonding, the technical bench is also using the eight-day camp to work on the squad’s physical condition and tactical preparations as the team begins to take shape ahead of the Transitional League.
The team is also expected to test its preparations through a series of friendly matches, with plans to play between three and four games against both Premier League and National League opposition.
The matches will give the technical bench an opportunity to assess fitness levels, experiment with different combinations and get an indication of the intensity at which the team intends to play.
“We want to try different combinations and just see the level of fitness and at what intensity we intend to play. We are planning to play at least two Premier League sides and also two National League sides,” Makinka said.
As preparations continue in Kitwe, the camp is expected to give Makinka and his technical staff valuable time with the squad as they continue building towards the 2026 Transitional League.
