29 RETAINED PLAYERS SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE PRE-SEASON MEDICALS

Kansanshi Dynamos Football Club has successfully conducted pre-season medical examinations for 29 retained players as preparations for the Transitional MTN Super League campaign gather momentum.

The medical assessments, conducted by the club’s medical team, are a key part of ensuring every player is fit and ready before the commencement of pre-season training.

Club medic, Blessed Simukulwa said the examinations provide a comprehensive evaluation of each player’s overall health following the off-season break.

“The first thing we do is a general examination. We check vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature and assess the player’s overall physical condition. We also record their weight, which is important for both the medical and technical teams as they monitor players’ fitness levels heading into pre-season.”

Simukulwa explained that the assessments also include musculoskeletal examinations to determine whether players have maintained their physical condition during the off-season.

“We assess the skeletal and muscular systems, looking at areas such as the ankles, knees and hip joints. Many players remain active during the off-season, so these examinations help us identify any concerns before training begins.”

The medical team also conducts vision, ear and oral examinations as part of the comprehensive screening process, with approximately 90 percent of the assessments completed at the club’s medical facility.

Some specialised tests are carried out at the hospital, where equipment such as chest X-ray machines is available.

“Certain examinations, including chest X-rays, are done at the hospital because they require specialised equipment that we do not have at the club.”

Simukulwa emphasized that the medicals play a crucial role in safeguarding player health before they return to high-intensity training.

“Football is a physically demanding sport, so it is important that we establish every player’s general health status before they resume training. These examinations help us identify any underlying medical concerns and ensure that every player is medically fit to participate safely.”

With the medical assessments well underway, the Fearless Mabanga Boys are now a step closer to beginning preparations for the new season.
