Kansanshi Share Points with Power Dynamos

The Mabanga Boys were left to settle for a point after being held to a 0-0 draw by Power Dynamos FC in Wednesday’s rescheduled Week 25 fixture at Independence Stadium.

With more at stake for the hosts, Kansanshi Dynamos showed purpose and control, matching the league champions and pushing for all three points, especially in the second half.

The game started with early intensity, and in the 3rd minute, Power Dynamos’ Kapembwa Musonda was shown a yellow card for a foul on Willy Bokingo.

Power continued to threaten from set-pieces, earning a free-kick in the 9th minute, but the Mabanga Boys defence stood firm, with Kalonji Mwepu helping clear the danger before Salulani Phiri fired over.

The visitors won successive corners around the 13th minute, but Matthews Banda produced important clearances to keep things level.

At the other end, Kansanshi Dynamos looked to create openings, though a Bakodila free-kick in the 16th minute failed to trouble the goalkeeper, with Willard Mwanza comfortably collecting.

A key moment came in the 17th minute when Gregory Sanjase made a crucial intervention to deny Moses Shuma, preventing Power from taking the lead.

Moments later, the Mabanga Boys nearly broke through, but Kalonji Mwepu’s effort struck the side netting.

Just before the break, in the 43rd minute, Aaron Katebe fouled Dalitso Lungu just outside the box, but Willard Mwanza was well positioned to deal with the resulting free-kick.

Kansanshi Dynamos came out stronger in the second half, winning consecutive corners in the opening minutes as they pushed for the opener.

In the 56th minute, Willy Bokingo made way for Bebe Onka Musangula as the hosts looked to inject fresh energy into the attack.

Power Dynamos continued to rely on set-pieces, but the Kansanshi defence remained resolute, with the wall doing well to block a dangerous free-kick.

In the 63rd minute, Bebe Musangula was involved in a challenge with Linos Makwaza Jr., which saw the medics briefly come onto the pitch.

Despite late pressure from the Mabanga Boys, the breakthrough proved elusive, and both sides had to settle for a share of the points.

🎙️ Assistant Coach Reaction – Dennis Makinka

“It was a difficult game with a high tempo from beginning to end. My boys accounted for themselves well,” said Makinka.

“We had chances, especially from set-pieces, but we could not benefit from them. We didn’t create much, it was a tactical game.”

“They are a very good team, but we planned for them. We will take a point, it’s not a bad result for us.”

“We will build from this in our next game. There is good team spirit now, and we will keep fighting until the last game.”
