MATCH REPORT: KDFC 1-0 GBFC

Kansanshi Dynamos FC secured a crucial 1-0 victory over Green Buffaloes FC in a Week 31 encounter of the MTN Super League, continuing their strong run of form as the season approaches its decisive stage.

The Mabanga Boys, coming off an impressive away win in their previous fixture, delivered another disciplined performance to collect maximum points at home, moving up to 10th position on the log with 38 points.

With just a few matches remaining, every point is vital, and this victory marks a significant step in Kansanshi’s push to maintain their top-flight status.

The visitors threatened early on, with a long-range free kick drifting just wide in the opening stages. Kansanshi responded with attacking intent, creating several chances through well-worked build-up play.

Dalitso Lungu came close with a header that missed the target, before striking the post minutes later following a brilliant attacking move led by Garry Mwelwa.

The breakthrough came in the 30th minute. A quick transition caught the Buffaloes defence off guard, as Willy Bokingo delivered a precise ball into the area. Garry Mwelwa showed composure and skill to control, turn, and fire home the decisive goal.

Kansanshi continued to push, with Kalonji Mwepu and others coming close, but were denied by the woodwork and last-ditch defending.

In the second half, Green Buffaloes searched for an equaliser, but the Kansanshi defence stood firm. Gregory Sanjase produced a crucial intervention to deny a clear scoring opportunity, preserving the lead.

Despite creating several more chances, including opportunities for Brian Mwila and Beby Musangala, the hosts were unable to extend their advantage. However, their resilience ensured they held on for all three points.

COACH’S REACTION

Assistant Coach Dennis Makinka praised the team’s effort and determination:

“Credit goes to the boys, they worked hard. It’s never easy to play against Buffaloes because of their physical strength. They didn’t allow us to play our usual passing game, but the players stood their ground and we managed to pick maximum points.”

On squad rotation:

“When you have a full squad, you have to make use of everyone. Julius has been performing well, and today we gave him an opportunity. He did very well.”

On missed chances:

“We are creating chances, which is a positive. We just need to improve our finishing. We’ll work on that ahead of the next game.”

KEY TAKEAWAY

Back-to-back victories for Kansanshi Dynamos signal growing momentum at a critical point in the season. With confidence building and performances improving, the Mabanga Boys are showing resilience and determination in their fight to climb further up the table.
