Kansanshi Dynamos suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to ZESCO United in a tightly contested Week 29 encounter in Solwezi.
Coming into the match on the back of two consecutive victories, the hosts looked to build momentum and started brightly.
ZESCO threatened early on, with Kabaso Chongo heading wide in the 8th minute, before Gregory Sanjase was called into action two minutes later, parrying away a dangerous corner from Abraham Siankombo.
Kansanshi responded in the 13th minute when Kizito struck from long range, forcing the ZESCO goalkeeper into a save to concede a corner.
The hosts came closest before the break in the 43rd minute, as Beby Musangala found space at close range but failed to hit the target.
At the start of the second half, Dalitso Lungu was introduced for Zeliat Nkhoma as Kansanshi looked to add more attacking impetus. Just three minutes into the restart, Mwepu went close, but his effort drifted slightly wide.
Rodgers Lukonde nearly caught the visitors off guard in the 59th minute with a dangerous cross that almost sneaked in, but the goalkeeper reacted well to claim it.
ZESCO United found the breakthrough in the 66th minute through Emmanuel Manda, giving the visitors the lead in a closely fought contest.
Kansanshi continued to push, with Lukondeโs well-struck free kick in the 69th minute blocked by the ZESCO defence. Late tactical changes saw Julius Mwanza introduced in an attacking role, as well as Beby Musangala, as the hosts searched for an equaliser.
In the closing stages, Kansanshi created a couple of late chances, but ZESCOโs defence stood firm to secure all three points.
Despite a strong home record against ZESCO United in previous meetings, Kansanshi were unable to make home advantage count on this occasion.
The result leaves Kansanshi Dynamos in 13th position on 32 points, with a handful of matches still to play as the focus shifts to finishing the season strongly.

โWe started well, but we lost the ball too many times, especially in midfield. We didnโt keep possession well compared to our previous games,โ he said.
โThe urgency we had in the last two games was not there today. Maybe the wins got into our minds, but itโs something we need to work on.
Itโs not the end, just a bend. We still have games to play and weโll keep pushing to come back stronger.โ
