Kansanshi Dynamos Football Club return to MTN Super League action tomorrow with a tough away assignment against FC Leopards, with the two sides separated by just one point on the log.
KDFC head into the fixture in 16th position with 11 points, while FC Leopards sit 15th on 12 points, setting the stage for a closely contested encounter.
Before the break, Kansanshi Dynamos suffered a 2–0 away defeat to ZESCO United in a rescheduled fixture in Ndola. The Mabanga Boys will be eager to use the return to action as an opportunity to start the New Year on a positive note.
Speaking ahead of the match, Assistant Coach Denis Makinka said the AFCON break gave the team valuable time to rest, regroup, and refocus.
“After the AFCON break, we gave the players a good rest. They are back fresh and ready for the first game of the year. Everyone looks good and we are good to go,” said Makinka.
Despite the close positions on the table, the coach expects a demanding contest away from home.
“In the Super League, there are no easy games. Every team is competitive. Even though we are close on the table, playing FC Leopards on their ground is always tough,” he said.
Makinka added that lessons have been taken from the previous loss to ZESCO United.
“We have worked on the mistakes we made in the ZESCO game. We’ve been rectifying them and motivating the boys to keep pushing. At this level, commitment and hard work are very important,” he added.
On the injury front, the technical bench has no major concerns.
“We only have a few minor knocks, nothing serious. By match day we will be sure who is fully ready, but overall the squad is in good condition,” he confirmed.
The coach also reserved a word of appreciation for the Kansanshi Dynamos supporters.
“We appreciate the patience and continued support from our fans. Their support lifts our morale and pushes us to work even harder. We are doing everything possible to give them something to smile about,” he said.
The match is set for President Stadium in Kabwe tomorrow.
