Kansanshi Dynamos Held to a Draw by Konkola Blades

Kansanshi Dynamos Football Club were held to a 1–1 draw against Konkola Blades in their Week 3 MTN Super League encounter at Independence Stadium this afternoon.

The match began with both sides showing intent, but it was the visitors who struck first. In the 12th minute, Kelvin Kapumbu tapped home from a corner delivered by former KDFC player Justine Kangombe, putting Konkola Blades ahead and unsettling the home side.

Despite the lack of positive results in recent weeks, the home supporters once again turned up in numbers, cheering on the Mabanga Boys and pushing the team forward throughout the match.

Kansanshi Dynamos responded positively, with Dalisto Lungu coming close in the 8th minute before eventually finding the equalizer. In the 28th minute, Lungu rose highest to head home from a Joseph Chomba corner, netting the club’s first goal of the season to level the score at 1–1.

Unfortunately, Lungu’s afternoon was cut short after picking up a knock, forcing him to be replaced by Lucky Sikanyika in the 38th minute.

The Mabanga Boys continued to push after the break, with Kalonji Mwepu looking especially dangerous. In the 61st minute, he broke through the Konkola defense and went one-on-one with the goalkeeper, only to see his shot saved. Just two minutes later, he again tested goalkeeper David Mumba, who denied him with another fine stop. Mwepu also went close in the 70th minute, this time sending a header narrowly over the bar.

Kansanshi had further chances through Muleta Mubiana and Timothy Sakala, but neither could find the breakthrough as the match ended all square.

After the game, Head Coach Zeddy Saileti expressed mixed feelings but remained encouraged by the team’s effort:
“I saw some positive attitude from the players today. Scoring our first goal of the season is important, and it shows progress. We just need to be more clinical with the chances we are creating.”

Konkola Blades coach Beston Chambeshi also acknowledged the tough contest, saying:
“It was not an easy match, especially now that both sides know each other well. We expected a difficult game, and it turned out that way.”

The Mabanga Boys now turn their focus to their next fixture as they continue the search for their first league victory of the season.
